Research Group
<2025->
In FY2025, building on the previous year, we will focus on the service sector, which holds significant potential for growth, and examine strategies to realize this potential through the "Service Industry Research Group Stage 2." Furthermore, recognizing the importance of collaboration with the Global South, we will explore possible forms of regional cooperation through the "Global South Research Group." To find solutions to these challenges, we will convene expert research groups for discussion and compile policy recommendations and reports.
<2024->
In FY2024, we showcase "Recommendations for Restoration of a Rules-Based International Trading System" by the Research Group from the distinguished trade policy experts worldwide on the International Trading System led by the Japan Economic Foundation. From FY2024, the other research group will focus on "productivity improvement," which is indispensable for the revitalization of the Japanese economy, and in particular on the revitalization of various service sectors, including software, and will make policy recommendations.
Also, focusing on "productivity improvement," essential for Japan's economic revitalization, we will conduct the "Service Industry Research Group." This group will concentrate on revitalizing key sectors within Japan's service industry--which constitutes a significant portion of our economy--particularly IT software, tourism, entertainment, and healthcare. Through discussions within this expert research group, we will seek solutions to these challenges and compile policy recommendations and reports.
<2023>
From FY2023, we will hold a research group of experts on how to establish a new international order that makes it possible to prohibit "attempts to change the status quo by force," as exemplified by the crisis in Ukraine, and compile policy recommendations. In addition, in light of the negative impact of Japan's declining population on its national strength, and by extension, on its economy and security, we will conduct a research group on how to halt the decline in population and make policy recommendations.
<2021-2022>
Among the three projects begun in the end of FY 2021, Research Group on the "New Industrial Policy" searches for solutions to achieve national security and restore Japan's competitiveness, while Research Group on the "Rules-based International Economic System" investigates ways to achieve reform of the international economic system from a power-based one to rules-based one. The Research Group on the "Roadmap of US-Japan-China Relations", which looks for a well-balanced solution for Japan among the issues of national security, foreign policy and economic relations against the background of the intensified US-China confrontation, will be continued as well in FY 2022.
